The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

Once upon a time when there were only 3 dorms, one dining hall without options, no Bayfront Hwy and the RUB was the 'happening' place to be (replete with coffee vending machines) - hot pots were 'in', Styxx ruled, the tuition was $670 or so odd dollars a term and you could actually party with your professors. Great friendships, new ways of re-thinking your goals and an educational experience took place on a tiny campus tucked away on a hill surrounded by woods and an enlightening sense of peace, community, synergy and flat out fun. Finding Chris in calculus class, studying late nights with him in the Gorge and almost failing Weller's Macroecon class if not for his brilliant explanations, interpretations and insights, sealed my fate when I married Chris in 1986. And although, the small gem of a campus is no longer recognizable, the lasting images and memories dim, but never fade. What an amazing journey Chris and I took together, and with pride I now take my 3 children to visit the campus where their parents met. I encourage them to listen to their inner voices, discover their passions, continue - always! - to learn and educate themselves and to enjoy their lives. Their educational journeys will bring them infinite rewards. Thanks to all you Perry dormers from Pittsburgh and patient professors who never gave up on non-econ majors. Live fiercely!
